Dato’ Dr. Mohd Nazlee Kamal

Dato' Dr Mohd Nazlee Kamal is the Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation (BiotechCorp). With more than 25 years of experience in diverse portfolios in the biotechnology industry, Nazlee brings strong acumen in both technical and business aspects of biotechnology to BiotechCorp. Recognised for his industry-wide leadership, Nazlee played a pivotal role in the formulation of Malaysia’s National Biotechnology Policy.

Prior to joining BiotechCorp, he was the Founding CEO of Inno Biologics Sdn Bhd and the Group Managing Director of Inno Bio Ventures Sdn Bhd. The main areas of focus for Inno Bio Group of Companies are biopharmaceutical manufacturing and cell-based diagnostics.
Previous to Inno Bio Group of Companies, Nazlee has a wealth of experience encompassing marketing and technical portfolios with multinational companies such as Amersham Biosciences, Sartorius and BBraun. Nazlee served 10 years of tenure as a lecturer at the University of Technology Malaysia where he developed the Bioprocess Engineering Program. His innovation, the “External Spinfilter”, is now being marketed by Sartorius BBI Systems (Patent No. PI9701436MY-11798-A).

He is a member of several professional societies, among them are International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Malaysian Biotechnology and Molecular Biology Society and Institution of Chemical Engineers. Nazlee holds a Master in Application Science Biotechnology from University of New South Wales, Australia, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering (Bioprocess) from University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

The Honorable Datuk Dr. Ewon Ebin was appointed as a Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) in on 15 May 2013.   The former Sabah Rural Development Minister is among the Kadazandusun Murut leaders with a wealth political experienced. The Honorable Datuk Dr. Ewon Ebin graduated as a Doctor in Business Administration (DBA) from University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He held several higher position in Government of Malaysia, among others are Director of Sabah Bank, Chairman of Permodalan Bumiputra Sabah, Chairman of Sabah Rubber Fund Board.

He started his political career in 1985 as a member of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and then joined the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO) after the 1994 general election. Since 2009 until present, he hold a position as a chairman of Barisan Nasional (Ranau, Sabah).

MOHD ROZI BIN OTHMAN

Mohd Rozi Bin Othman joined Gas Malaysia in 1992 as Superintendent in Technical Support, Marketing section. He was subsequently promoted to Senior Executive, Industrial Sales of Marketing in 1997. Later in 2002, he was assigned to a new responsibility as Manager, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) to manage the new natural gas market in providing energy solutions to customers for the growth of natural gas business.

In 2014, he was promoted as Senior Manager, Business Development where he was responsible for the overall function in managing the activities for new business in accordance to the company's overall strategy in order to meet the revenue and business objectives and to create and develop opportunities for the growth of business of Gas Malaysia Berhad. As to date, two (2) Joint-Venture companies; Gas Malaysia Energy Advance Sdn Bhd for the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) business and Gas Malaysia IEV Sdn Bhd for the Virtual Pipeline distribution business have been incorporated.

He began his working life in 1988 when he joined Public Work Department. Mohd Rozi graduated with Mechanical Engineering from University of Technology Malaysia.

Dr Lim Daw Yuen is currently the Marketing Manager of Technical Services Division (TSD), Sime Darby Oshore Engineering Sdn. Bhd. He holds a Degree of Engineering (Chemical) from UTM, Malaysia and registered as a member of Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). He holds an MBA from University Lincoln, UK and obtained his Doctorate in Business Administration from OUM, Malaysia in year 2012. He began his career with Siemens Power Generation as Engineer for Power Plants in 1999. He moved on to join the local automation company as Division Manager for sales and distribution area for 2 years prior to join Sime Darby in year 2007. Since then, he leads and identies priority areas of work for the Company in Gas Turbine & Gas Engine Cogeneration, District Cooling, CNG Stations, and BioCNG and other renewable energy business. He has contributed signicantly at pioneering and architecting the value chain of BioCNG in Malaysia since 2010.

Goh holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He has over 7 years of working experiences in the natural gas industry in the Asia Pacific region. He joined Lincoln Composites Inc. in July 2010 to oversee the sales and marketing of the high and low-pressure products. Prior to joining Lincoln Composites, he was the Regional Sales Manager for C. Melchers GmbH from 2007-2010, providing CNG station solutions for various gas applications. From 2005-2007, he was the Commercial Manager for Sembcorp Gas, Singapore, in-charge of the sales on natural gas to the NGV/industrial customers in Singapore.

Nor Shahmir (Shahmir) is currently (2015) the head of banking of EXIM Bank. Shahmir manages a department of 9 specic units/teams which cover various sector expertise including plantation, oil and gas, energy and infrastructure, consumer and industrial products, business and commercial banking.

Shahmir graduated from the International Islamic University Malaysia (Bachelor of Accounting Hons.) and started his banking career with several local and foreign investment/commercial banks namely, MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Berhad, Al-Khalij Commercial Bank Qatar and Bank Muamalat. Shahmir was former Vice President of an investment bank, foreign Islamic bank and an independent advisory company.

Shahmir has handled various aspects of banking and investment banking in his 20 years as a banker and has extensive experience in cross-border nancial advisory, international and regional project nance, corporate nance, loan syndications and investment banking. Marcello Barbato

Engr. Barbato is a native of Naples, Italy. An Environmental Engineer by profession which holds a University and Masters Degree from Naples Polytechnic Italy. His thesis was entitled “Project, construction and operating of a pre-pilot scale anaerobic digester.”

Since 2006, he has worked in renewable energies field for international companies. During that period, working in different European Countries for which he gained in terms of his professional  and technical experience.

Currently, Engr. Barbato is based in Manila, Philippines starting up the branch office for EnviTec Biogas AG.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Since DEC of 2013, he is the Country Manager, start-up of EnviTec biogas in the Philippines and marketing for the development of activities in Southeast Asia.

EnviTec Biogas covers the entire value chain for the production of biogas, including planning and turnkey construction of biogas plants and biogas upgrading plants and their commissioning. The company takes charge of biological and technical services and offers full plant and operational management. So far, EnviTec installed more than 355 MWel worldwide and has a wide experience in processing agricultural and agro-industrial by-products. EnviTec Biogas currently operates in more than 20 countries and has 350 employees. In 2013, the group generated revenues of €148.8 million and an EBIT of  €2.4 million. EnviTec Biogas AG has been listed on the Frankfurt stock exchange since 2007.

Mark Leslie

Mr. Leslie has extensive work experience in Asia, EMEA, and the Americas with several global corporations. From 2009 to 2011 at AES, Mark had regional operational, strategy, and Merger and Acquisition responsibilities for Asia and the Middle East. Prior to this role, in 2006 he acted as the Regional General Manager and Vice President for AES Climate Solutions ASEAN where he grew AES’ carbon offset businesses from business’ set-up into construction and operations in several ASEAN countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam. Other positions he has held in AES include Director EMEA and Director of Business Excellence for AES in Europe and Latin America. Prior to coming to AES in 2002, Mark also held positions in several Silicon Valley start-ups and a multi-model Pan-Asian logistics company in Taiwan.

In 2012 he led a Buy Out of a group of companies focused on waste water treatment and renewable power generation. Under his leadership the management team has reduced operating costs by more than 60% and successfully contracted gas sales.

Mark Leslie started Alternative Energy Corporation(AEC) in 2012 and last year, AEC was awarded the Singapore Sustainability Awards 2014. This is a prestigious award from the Singapore Business Federation. The Award presentation was held on the 8th of October.

Mark also has an MBA in International Management in Chinese from Thunderbird, School of Global Management and a BA in International Political Economy and French from Boston College.

Chao Li is a co-founder of Bioprocess Control China and has been Chief Technical Officer (CTO) since the company was established in 2008. He holds the Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Master of Science in Entrepreneurship at Lund University, Sweden, and took part in the 20th certification programme at the Johns Hopkins (SAIS)-Nanjing Center. Chao is also an Industrial PhD in the field of Environmental Biotechnology and Bioenergy at Lund University, Sweden. Lee Giok Seng

Lee Giok Seng graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1984. He is a professional engineer registered with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM). He started work in PETRONAS in August 1984. He was involved in the development, promotion and operation of NGV since it was commercially introduced in Malaysia by PETRONAS in 1991. He started as the engineer in-charged of vehicle conversions and was involved in the development of Malaysian Standard for vehicle conversions and vehicle installer training and certication programme. In 1995, he was appointed as the Technical Services Manager of PETRONAS NGV Sdn. Bhd. and in 2003 he was appointed as the Senior Manager for the Operations & Services Department. In August 2007, he was seconded from PETRONAS to the Asia Pacic Natural Gas Vehicles Association (ANGVA) as an Executive Director, promoting the development and promotion of NGV markets in the Asia Pacic region. Prior to his retirement from PETRONAS in November 2013, he was seconded to the Malaysian Gas Association as a technical manager in January 2013. Currently he is contracted as an Executive Director by ANGVA.

Kurt Sorschak

Mr. Sorschak co-founded Xebec Adsorption Inc., and developed it from a local compressed air and gas dryer manufacturer into an internationally active gas purification company. He played an important role in establishing strong relationships with different universities and laboratories in Canada and the United States of America, for the development of innovative adsorption based gas purification. In 2011 he joined the Board of Directors of the Canadian Natural Gas Vehicle Alliance (CNGVA). In 2008, he became the sole director of Xebec China, which serves the Chinese and Asian/Pacific market with gas purification and filtration equipment. From 2004 to 2007, he was the General Manager of the Canadian division of Domnick Hunter's air dryer manufacturing facility, at that time the largest adsorption dryer plant in North America. In 2005, he became the General Manager for the Xebec division of Parker-Hannifin Corporation, a U.S. based multinational, after Parker-Hannifin Corporation bought Domnick Hunter Ltd. In June 2007, he bought the Xebec division from Parker-Hannifin through a management buy-out transaction with two other partners. Mr. Sorschak also worked in different managerial capacities in Europe. He obtained an Associate Degree from the American University in Paris, France, in 1982, and a Masters of Law Degree from the University of Munich, Germany, in 1988

She has been with SIRIM for more than 30 years working as a researcher attached to a number of technology areas covering metalworking, chemical technology and environment and energy. In the eld of environmental and energy technology, she has implemented and managed a number of industrial, government and collaborative international R&D projects using biotechnology and physicochemical technology for hazardous waste treatment, wastewater treatment and waste management technologies including solid waste management, environmental and health risk assessment, cleaner technology, life cycle assessment, and renewable energy generation. Her latest projects cover sustainable production and consumption approaches, biogas from anaerobic fermentation of organic wastewater, and photocatalytic treatment, in particular using solar energy for decontamination and disinfection. She is currently leading two projects, one national and another international, to develop carbon footprint labelling in the country. Her latest projects cover ecodesign of products and processes to address concerns of climate change, resource scarcity and continual degradation of the environment. She is also the co-convener of the Working Group for ISO14064 Part 2 that focuses on GHG projects or project-based activities specically designed to reduce GHG emissions or increase GHG removals.

Prior to Biotec, Andy was the Senior Vice President of Operations at MG EcoTech, a biotechnology-based waste management solution provider.

Andy has over 10 years experience in organic waste management, of which covers process design; process control; plant setup; process optimization; facilities O&M; agronomic research on compost application. Andy was a graduate engineer in Process & Food Engineering from UPM in 2003.

Yusriady bin Che Saad

Yusriady Bin Che Saad has been with KONZEN® Group since 2003, and he was appointed as the Head Of Plant Operation for Konzen Clean Energy Sdn Bhd since June 2014.

Yusriady holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Chemical Technology from the University Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi, Selangor. He has more than 12 years’ experience in details process design, operation and maintenances (O&M) of water and Industrial Euent Treatment Plants (Ultra-Filtration, Reverse Osmosis systems, Deionized or Ultrapure Water and Industrial Euent Treatment Systems, IETS). Prior to this, he was the Service Engineer in Konzen Engineering Systems Sdn Bhd from 2003 - 2010 which is one of the subsidiaries in Konzen® Group Malaysia. In year 2010, he was promoted to Service Manager and fully responsible for all the Operation and Maintenances accounts in Malaysia. Besides focusing in the daily operation and maintenance tasks, he is also actively involved in the Testing and Commissioning of Ultra Pure Water Systems and Industrial Euent Treatment Systems (IETS) including biogas plant. Since year 2013, he had involved in operating and commissioning of Biogas Plant in East Malaysia and Indonesia. Tong Xuan Chinh is the Deputy Director General of the Department of Livestock Production, Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development. He holds a PhD in Biology/Eusocial Bees from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He has held several Directorial positions in various departments over the course of his career which include Deputy Technical Director of the Livestock Competitiveness and Food Safety Project funded by The World Bank and Chief of Planning and Finance Division, Department of Livestock Production, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD). In addition to his post as Deputy Director General of the Department of Livestock Production he is also the Director of the Project “Biogas Program for the Animal Husbandry Sector of Vietnam” which was implemented by Livestock Production Department (under MARD) in cooperation with Netherlands Development Organisation – SNV.

He was Director at Excellent Renewable Pvt Ltd, India from 2009 – 2011. He is currently Director at SS Gas Lab Asia and Cryostar Tanks and Vessels Pvt Ltd as well as Chairman of the Indian Biogas Association and also is Managing Director at Arka BRENStech Pvt Ltd.
